God's Protection & Healing

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Sitting in a coffee shop relaxing while enjoying a cup of Chai Tea, I am reflecting over the past three months. Let's say the last week of the year, 2016, was "not my cup of tea" or pleasant way of ending the year...

Monday, December 26, 2016, I was T-Boned by another driver as I was heading to one of my favorite coffee shops, Whelan’s Coffee & Ice Cream Shop, in Oconomowoc, WI to get myself a cup of Chai Tea and to relax after the busyness of visiting my family in the Port Washington area during Christmas. My family's mid-sized car was hit by a SUV on the front passenger side, which pushed me towards the opposite lane of oncoming traffic. I don't know or remember much of how far I went over, but I managed to get the vehicle steered back into the right lane and over to the curb. As with the crash result, my left knee hit the stirring wheel and I received whiplash from the impact the SUV gave me coming out from a gas station. I was able to get my car off the road and parked to where it wouldn't be in the way of other vehicles coming and going from the gas station. With everything that needed to be dealt with the police with filing an accident report, I walked away with just a sore knee, very scared, and overly stressed from being T-Boned.

Christmas Morning - Chris, Lilian, and I
My husband, Chris, called for a tow-truck to pick up our totaled car and thankfully there was still a towing company that was still open on Christmas Day Observed. Meanwhile, I called a friend from church to see if she could wait with me when the towing company arrived and take me home. I didn't know who would be home because I am sure many families would be traveling to and from relatives or special events around Christmas. On the way home, the friend who picked me up explained to me, her husband could take Chris to work, since they both worked at the same company, Trek Bicycle Corporation, and the company encourages carpooling. Once I got home, I hugged our two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Lilian, very dearly because I was beyond thankful she didn't have to experience any of this traumatic event.

Anyway, the next day, I was hurting very badly. I could barely walk around because my left knee hurt too much to put pressure on. I could not even pick up Lilian because moving around was just too much. I even had a splitting headache that never seemed to go away with even taking medicine. In the morning, my younger sister, Shannon, came over to help with daily household tasks and to help keep my mind off of the events of what just happened. Even during the week Chris' parents came up for a visit to spend some time with us for the holidays. It was good to keep my mind busy with family, other activities and general doing anything that was not going to remind me of the car accident.

As the year was coming to an end, my pain in my body was lessening, but I was still very sore and I needed help to recover. I had no idea where to go to get help on my injury and wondering if the guy's car insurance would cover it. There would be plenty of times I would cry hard from the reality of the car accident. Crying and wanting God to take all the pain from physical to emotional away. Chris told me of a few people at work who were once in a car accident and went to Litang Family Chiropractic to where they had great results.

I started my chiropractic therapy about a week and a half from the day of my accident. Each week I have seen different improvements in my ability to move around and accomplish different tasks in my everyday life. The adjustments of my neck where my headaches disappeared. Working on my back, where I have less and less backaches from sitting around or even at my computer doing data entry for work. After two and a half months of week to week therapy I feel back to my normal self before the accident had occurred. Everyone who was involved with my therapy, didn’t just help me with my neck, back, and knee issues, but were very kind in listening to me if I was having a down day, they would be understanding and give me some encouraging words.

While going through my therapy, I have been keeping up with each week of being thankful for something different or how the results from the accident have been improving. My first week was how grateful I was for God's protection over me from the accident. I could have lost my life if the impact may have been different, but I wouldn't know. Several thankfulness was how my chiropractic therapy was going. It was going from three days a week to two days and then to one day a week. A big thankful was the money from the guy’s insurance we were provided with to get a different car and what we found. I was thinking we'd only get a couple hundred dollars since the vehicle my family owned was an old car. Nope, we were wrong. I then was wondering if we could find a family vehicle where it would benefit our needs as a growing family. Sure enough, God showed us a family size sedan with less than 85,000 miles with the purchase price within the amount of money we received from the insurance. Chris told me to keep our options open because the car we had our eyes on, seemed too good to be true. I prayed and kept an eye out to see if the car was still available and sure enough once we received the money from the insurance we called up the people and made an appointment to purchase the car.

Overall, the three months since the accident I am beyond blessed for what God has done for me. He protected me from serious injury in the accident where I never went to the hospital, but only went for chiropractic therapy. A loving husband who helped comfort me through my troubles when I was trying to coop each day from the accident and helped me along with very encouraging words. Grateful Lilian never had to experience a car accident and was quite good while I had to go through all the chiropractic therapy sessions. Family and friends giving myself encouraging words or offering to help me in different ways of where I need some kind of help. Finally, God providing all the necessary needs for my family with getting through these past three months and months to come.

I am still making it an effort for each Monday to put down what I am thankful for on my Facebook page, and I plan on doing this through to the end of 2017. I am also making an effort to get back into shape of working towards having a healthier body and building my endurance. I plan on participating in an event called the Trek 100 with my husband and hopefully with lots of friends in the beginning of June.

She Walks in Power

"She Walks in Power"
MaryLu Tyndall
Protectors of the Spear - Book One

Alexia D'Clere didn't ask to be Protector of the Spear, but after her dying mother gave her the tiny metal object and made her promise to keep it safe, she had no choice. Orphaned at age 9, she began to take over the running of her parent's castle with the help of a trusted steward. Yet, when a plot to murder her was revealed, a friar whisked her away to live hidden in the forest. There, she learned to shoot expertly with bow and arrow and hone her skills to see into the spirit realm.

Now, at 18, she continues to keep the spear protected, provide meat for the starving village, while secretly caring for her ill sister who still lives in the castle. With Alexia's powers of spiritual discernment and her skill as an archer, she is no match for those who come for the spear. That is until she meets Ronar LePeine, one of the King's elite guard.

Ronar desires nothing more than to do his duty to God and King and pay penance for his past sins. Yet a forest sprite with red, flaming hair blocks his every move, all the while enchanting him like no other. Something evil lurks at Castle Luxley, and both Ronar and Alexia are soon thrust into the middle of a spiritual battle which will not only test their very beliefs, but put them both in mortal danger.

My Review

“She Walks in Power” is a new twist to MaryLu Tyndall’s writing!  We are not setting sail in a nautical swashbuckling novel, but trailing through a novel of mythical medieval times!  Alexia D’Clere is the Protector of the Spear who didn’t want to take on this task, but was given to her on important circumstances from her dying mother at such a young age.  Shortly after, she is hidden away in the forest by a friar when someone wants to murder Alexia.  Growing up, Alexia learns to shoot with a bow and arrow and learns God’s law to what the Church’s law by men teach. Ronar LePeine is a knight guard who is set on doing his duty to God, king of London, and trying to pay penance for his past sins.

Throughout this medieval novel I enjoyed reading and could relate to many different scenarios the adventures Alexia and Ronar went through.  Like Alexia with her good qualities in life, I am devoted, determined, spirited, and kind.  Then I can relate to Alexia when her emotions can get the best of her and where she is stubborn to get something accomplished when there is a better solution God wants to be done. With Ronar, I grew up also thinking/believing in order to be good and earn my way to God one needed to be a ‘Good Person’ doing ‘Good Deeds’ to outweigh their sins.  I can even relate to when growing up, I was told the Holy Bible was only meant for priests, bishops, or pastors (whomever taught), and for everyone else wouldn’t understand it.  Anyways, I can’t wait till the next two come out!  Read to see what happens with Alexia and Ronar when faced with  danger and how they put their trust in God!

My Review

What a beautiful well written novel MaryLu Tyndall has written, “Charity’s Cross”!  I do not know where to begin describing how detailed or what events took place.  Throughout the whole novel I was always wondering what was going to happen to Charity Westcott, whether her husband’s brother was going to capture her all the way to if she would ever find a way back home to Charles Towne with getting help from Elias Dutton.  I really enjoyed where Charity and Elias go throughout their journey where telling the truth and trusting in God plays out.  Will Charity ever tell the truth to Elias?  Will Charity ever trust and believe in God for what He has planned for her?  On a last note, I really enjoyed how MaryLu Tyndall pulled characters and background history from “Legacy of the King’s Pirate” series into “Charity’s Cross”! A wonderful historical inspirational romance novel to read, makes me want to read all over again.

The Reckoning

"The Reckoning"
MaryLu Tyndall
Legacy of the King's Pirate - Book Five

When Morgan Shaw crept into the hold of an old pirate ship replica at San Diego’s Annual Tall Ship Festival, her only intention was to avoid the guy who had just dumped her and who was now boarding the ship with two women on his arm. What she didn’t expect was to wake up aboard a real pirate ship three-hundred years in the past. But of course, it wasn’t real. Her wealthy father had obviously staged it all in an effort to get her mind off her upcoming chemo. Or had he?

Rowan Dutton seeks enough treasure to repay a debt to his sister and reinstate the Dutton name among British Jamaican Society. He is but one major haul away from accomplishing his goal when a strange woman appears on his ship and causes him to lose his prey. Despite his anger, he is enthralled with the little minx, her strange clothing, odd speech, and her insistence that they are all actors playing a charade paid for by her father.

Yet when the brazen little lady divulges Rowan’s secret to a longtime nemesis, events are triggered that could cost them both their lives and change the course of history forever.

My Review

“The Reckoning” the FIFTH book to the series “Legacy of the Kings Pirate” by MaryLu Tyndall!  It all starts when a young lady, Morgan Shaw, was invited to spend the day at a Tall Ship Festival with some friends in the year 2015.  Only thing is that Morgan is having many different problems from anxiety to OCD all the way to cancer where she doesn’t want to do anything but deal with her problems.  Boarding a replica tall ship with her friends, she hides away from everyone.  Though when she comes out of her hiding she finds herself in the year 1694 in the midst of Rowan Dutton.  Rowan, a pirate and womanizer, is out seeking treasure to repay a debt to his sister, only to find Morgan has somehow come stowed away on his ship making things more complicated in his quest.

I have very much enjoyed reading this fifth historical romance novel to the series “Legacy of the Kings Pirate”.  When I saw Morgan was somehow transported back to 1694, lots of questions went through my mind. How is she going to get back home to her time period?  With her being in the past how will it affect the future?  Will she want to stay or want to return home?  With Morgan’s different problems how was she going to function without any medication or treatment?  Then would Morgan have any affect on Rowan if he were going to change his ways in pirating or not?  Overall, I had to keep on reading to see weather or not Morgan and Rowan would trust in God with the events to come and in their own abilities.

My Review

“Abandoned Memories” is the final book to the series Escape to Paradise created by MaryLu Tyndall.  This novel had me at the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next.  Especially, when many different disasters come to destroy the colony New Hope.  Angeline Moore and James Callaway are as well having plenty of haunting visions from their past where they were trying to put behind them.  Both struggle in their own separate ways.  You’ll need to find out if Angeline can truly start a new life in New Hope or be driven to somehow run again from her past, and if James can concur his fear and failures from doctoring and preaching.  Also, will those in New Hope know how to finally put a stop to all the disasters that have been occurring?  See how God works through Angeline, James, and any of the other colonists!  “Abandoned Memories” is bursting with history, mystery, romance, and lots of suspense!

My Review

After three years of publishing the first three books to the series “Legacy of the King’s Pirate” MaryLu Tyndall writes a fourth outstanding swashbuckling novel to this thrilling series, "The Ransom"!  Like her other novels, I had a very hard time putting this novel down.  This exciting adventure takes place in the year 1692 in the meanest city Port Royal, Jamaica.  Secretly, Miss Juliana Dutton is trying to keep her father’s business afloat while her father is extremely ill and her twin brother does nothing to help, but get drunk and gamble away anything.  The son of Merrick and Charlisse Hyde, Alexander Hyde, lives his life by leading a double life to hide certain deep secrets from society.  Will each choice or action Juliana and Alexander take through life either turn against or backfire on them? Only reading through this God-inspiring novel, see how each character comes to grip in trusting in their own path to what will be best for them or if they trust in the Lord to show them their rightful path!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
